Saving water should always be a priority, especially in Cayman where,
with no natural sources of fresh water apart from the rain, we rely on
technology for our drinking water. It is even predicted that water may
become the most sought after resource in the world in future.
Save some green
September 7, 2010 When it comes to making your home more energy efficient, you may have to spend a little to save a lot
Going green is great at any time of the year. No matter the season,
there are always “green” steps that can be introduced into everyday
family routines that can lessen our negative effects on the environment
and our health while helping us to save money at the same time.
Living in harmony with nature can be a challenge, especially in a world
where we are always rushing from one thing to the next. Finding the
right balance between taking care of business and taking care of
yourself can be a challenge. It is little wonder then that the
environment is often the last thing on our minds.
When it comes to green lighting, most people think of energy saving
light bulbs like compact fluorescent lights or LED lights. Yet when it
comes to going green, even candles can benefit from some creative and
environmentally friendly thinking.
A brewery might be one of the last places you would think of looking for a leader in green initiatives. Even more so a brewery on a small island. Yet at Cayman Islands Brewery, the home of Caybrew, there are more environmental initiatives ongoing than one might find many other companies put together.
Unfortunately the same plastic we dispose of so readily can be around for a thousand years. One look toward Mount Trashmore makes it abundantly clear that throwing away disposable cups, cutlery and containers that will be around forever is not a sustainable solution.
Fighting to preserve the environment can occasionally feel like trying
to save something that is already gone. However, everything we do in our
daily lives can end up having an impact on our environment.
