Seymour’s Jerk Chicken
TOPIC: Dining & Entertainment
September 1, 2012

Main Story:
Local lunching

Anyone who has lived here for any period of time should be well familiar with Seymour’s Jerk Chicken stand. It started off as a mobile operation, visiting the parking lots of bars and nightclubs so that starving revellers would have somewhere to eat late at night.

However, the name Seymour became so well-known and his food so craved, that he finally set up a permanent location on Shedden Road. How popular is his cuisine? A British man who used to work here had to relocate to Bermuda, and he had three full servings of Seymour’s Jerk Chicken sent to him via Federal Express. True story.

What many fans of Seymour’s might not realise, however, is that he is open for lunch – he isn’t just a late-night dining hotspot. Every day except for Sunday there are some divine smells coming from his neck of the woods. Jerk chicken, pork, fried fish, fried codfish, mannish water, fish tea, festival…oh yes my friends, it is food cooked the old-fashioned way. There is even roast fish on Fridays and Saturdays.

You can eat it at one of the conveniently provided picnic tables, or take it away to somewhere where no one else can get their hands on it. This stuff is in demand! Soak it up with some thick white bread and get yourself some cold drinks to keep your tongue cool. It’s the real deal at Seymour’s!.

Located at 194 Shedden Road in George Town, Seymour’s Jerk Chicken is open Monday to Saturday.
