You don’t have to be from Texas to love Lone Star. In fact, if you’re a fan of smoked barbecue, this is definitely the place to you.
The big, hefty smoker sits right out there on the patio, so you can’t help but enjoy that great aroma while waiting for your mouth-watering order of pulled pork – now a popular lunch favourite.
Which brings to mind a twist on dining out: Why not make lunch your featured meal of the day? There are some great platters on offer as Lone Star has rolled out its new lunch menu, so you can enjoy their signature items midday. To sweeten the deal, of course, start off with a tall glass of iced sweet tea (or regular iced tea, if you prefer), or any of more than a dozen beers, domestic or imported.
Once you’ve sufficiently quenched your thirst after rolling in from the beach or your favourite watersport, try one of the popular starters, such as a zesty, slightly spicy black bean dip served with tortillas and grilled bread, or perhaps a unique Frito pie – corn chips laced with chili and cheese, or mini corn dogs ready to dip in honey mustard sauce.
Now that your palate is sufficiently warmed up, head for the lunch deals – featuring, what else, a pulled pork barbecue sandwich and pulled pork sliders. If you’re not a convert yet, you simply can’t go wrong with Lone Star’s classic burger (your choice of 6 oz or 8 oz hand-made patty), which you may build to perfection by adding chili, cheddar or Swiss cheese, mushrooms, bacon and/or jalapeno for a small additional price. If your tastes run more to steak, dig into the large Angus steak sandwich: filet slices with carmalized onions and sautéed mushrooms on whole wheat.
Hearty enough for the biggest appetite.
More partial to lighter fare? There’s something for everyone in your party, as the menu also offers a barbecue chicken hoagie, a jerk fish wrap and even a veggie burger. And all of the lunch entrees are served with French fries and a side of slaw.
Beyond lunch, there’s entertainment to consider. Whether you’re sitting out on the patio enjoying Seven Mile Beach breezes or inside the comfortably air-conditioned rooms, you’ll be able to catch your favourite sporting events on one of Lone Star’s 17 new HD flat-screen TVs mounted all around for easy viewing. Rugby, NFL football and Formula One racing are all fan favourites at Lone Star, a great place to meet up with your mates for some great views, smokin’ food and cold brews. WH
