With a name that means ‘beauty’ in Farsi, Ziba fashions in The Strand is one of the newer entries into Cayman’s fashion scene. However, rather than stocking the same brands as other companies on island, Ziba features a range of designers and clothing you won’t encounter elsewhere.

The decor is fresh and clean, which is a pretty good way of describing the clothing lines that adorn the walls of the store as well. According to Brian O’Neal, the focus is on clothing that fits well, is great to wear and easy to care for – perfect for the busy lifestyle most people have to deal with here. After all, Cayman has much more to it than just lounging on the beach, and one should really come prepared.

The core line for the store is Anatomie, which Brian says is a perfect fit for Cayman, as the fabrics are light and breathable enough to wear when you are going to be active, while at the same time being stylish enough to wear out. The pieces are easy to care for, so you can always have something handy to dress up or dress down as the occasion requires without having to agonise endlessly over the care of the garment. The clothing ranges from high performance workout wear to modern designer sportswear, all with a strong European flair. The brand boasts that it is composed of functional fashion, which makes it a perfect fit for the fashionably active lifestyle so prevalent in Cayman. With a minimalist style that is designed to flatter the female form and a combination of Italian and French fabrics, the Anatomie range offers something unique while still not breaking the bank.

Brian has also included lines by fresh new designers like Heather Bourdeaux and Maggie Coulombe in the line-up, bringing a fresh urban vibe that at the same time still wears well in an island location like Cayman. Working with labels that are not as widely known yet also presents Brian with the opportunity to connect with the designers in a way that would not be possible with big fashion houses, resulting in clothing have just the right balance of urban chic without being too avant garde for the Cayman market, which can at times be a touch more conservative than might be found in other parts of the world.
