As one of the longest established resort spas in Cayman, the Hibiscus Spa at the Westin Casuarina has been at the same location since 2001 and the time has clearly been well spent refining a menu of services that perfectly complements its location on one of the most famous stretches of beach in the world.

Although the decor of the spa has a very European minimalist feel about it, there are subtle touches of the tropics everywhere, especially in the treatments, which often include unique local ingredients like Cayman Sea Salt or tropical fruit.

Many treatments aimed at helping with the effects of spending a lot of time on the beach, so there are spa pedicures that include paraffin to rehydrate the feet, which can take quite a beating walking on the beach all day, as the sand can really dry out the skin.
One of the most popular treatments is an aloe vera soothing body wrap, with natural ingredients including aloe, water lily extract and chamomile.

This cooling wrap is especially good for recovery from over-exposure to the sun and helps decrease discomfort. According to Pat England, the spa director, this is especially popular with visitors to Cayman, usually on the second day of their visit after they underestimated the Caribbean sun on day one.

Tropical scents also play an important role, with the papaya body scrub being a prime example. Combining micronised grains of rice, papaya and pineapple the natural treatment is perfect for all skin types, while the ingredients provide a gentle reminder that you are indeed in the tropics.

The spa features a couple’s room with a hot tub as well. However, Pat says that even though many see the couples massage as part of a romantic getaway, many of their customers are friends, mother and daughters, or someone who is coming for their first spa treatment and feel that they would like some moral support from a friend.

Through until 1 October Hibiscus Spa is offering 20 per cent discount on any treatment over $100, or 10 per cent on any treatment under $100, with a 15 per cent service charge added to that, which goes directly to the therapist.

The spa also boasts licensed massage therapists, who are trained in deep tissue massage as well. All massages are the same price with pricing based on time. Other available treatments include facials, nails as well as waxing and tinting.

The spa uses Pevonia Botanica products, with the natural and organic product fitting perfectly with the environmental awareness of the spa, down to the biodegradable packaging of the products.

The spa is open seven days a week, from 7am to 7pm.
