The art of good seafood, at Guy Harveys
TOPIC: Guy Harvey's Conservation Corner

When it comes to marine art in Cayman, the name of Guy Harvey is synonymous with excellence. No surprise then that the same goes for the seafood at the eponymous restaurant across the road from his studio and art gallery.

Chef Bruno Deluche is fully aware that the moment people walk in the door of Guy Harvey’s Island Grill and see the maritime theme and Guy Harvey’s art on the walls, they expect excellent seafood – an expectation he is more than happy to live up to. And though the menu has plenty of seafood, there is more than enough variation for those who are not fans of the genre. For those who do like their seafood, the restaurant follows Sea Sense guidelines, which means it serves fish that are sustainably fished and avoids species that are over-fished. So you can have your fish and eat it too.

Located on the waterfront overlooking the ocean, the patio is a perfect location for those who want their seafood with a view of its origins, but the air-conditioned interior of the restaurant also beckons those who find the hot summer nights just a little bit too hot.

The menu carries a definite French influence, strongly infused with Caribbean flavours.

From the lobster bisque starter to the warm cassava cake with coconut-pineapple ice cream dessert, the menu offers a selection of flavours certain to bring just enough of the familiar together with something a little bit adventurous.

The menu always features a selection of fresh fish including snapper, mahi-mahi, tuna and salmon, pan sautéed or grilled, depending on your preference, and with a selection of sauces including Thai red curry, coconut, Niçoise, lemon beurre blanc, mango salsa, blackened, smoked Chipotle butter, and of course Cayman style, with a choice of Greek or mixed salad.

A more recent introduction is a $30 four course dinner menu, which changes every two weeks, offering diners an excellent opportunity to experience a four course meal for an absolute bargain price. The special is not available on Thursday or Friday evenings though. The restaurant also offers daily specials, a great favourite with local diners, for only $9,99.

Of course, if you want to ease your way into dinner, there is always the option of dropping in for the very popular Happy Hour first, with all drinks 50 per cent off from 5pm to 7pm.
