Cayman, being a group of three islands, is surrounded by water, so it would be a shame not to make use of the opportunities for health and fitness this provides.
Whether you decide to spend time on, in, under, or just near the water, being comfortable while at the same time looking the part can be vital to making the most of it.
Although winter is slowly drawing to a close, the water has been somewhat colder than usual, so for those who have been avoiding their regular dives due to water temperatures, a little bit of neoprene could go a long way. According to Adam Gibbons of Divers Supply in West Shore Centre, the store has a wide selection of suits available to get even those with an extreme dislike of the cold back into the water sooner.
Of course, getting back into the water also means it might be time to take BCDs, regulators, and dive computers that have been lying around gathering dust in for a service. Divers Supply also offers loaner equipment at no charge while your gear is getting serviced, so you don’t lose a second of dive time.
Then again, sometimes a piece of equipment that is in need of a service is a great excuse to upgrade, and the store is adding new gear from the likes of Mares, Oceanic and Cressi, as well as expanding its range of Oakley clothing and flipflops.
As the weather and water gets warmer, the call to the beach is getting ever stronger, and with it the need to get into the latest swimwear. Whether you’ve lost weigh (lucky you), gained weight (the festive season can be a cruel mistress) or just want to get into the latest fashions, Divers Supply has a wide selection of brands and styles to suit a range of different tastes, personalities and sizes (from toddlers all the way to plus-sizes).
The collection of swimwear includes one-pieces, bikinis, swim dresses, tankinis, and mix and match separates in a wide pallet of colours, textures and prints, by the likes of Trina Turk, Vitamin A, Jantzen, Guess, Nautica, Rampage, Kenneth Cole, Tommy Hilfiger, O’Neill, Hobie, Speedo... the list goes on and on. Suffice to say, finding something you like shouldn’t be too difficult.
Once you’ve found your swimwear of choice, you can accessories it with hats, sandals, towels, beachwalkers, beach bags and sunglasses by Reef, Oakley, Costa Del Mar and Arnette for that complete beach look.

Beach tips:
- Remember the sunscreen: Even on a cloudy day your skin can get a lot of UV exposure. And remember that the sun reflects off the water, so don’t think a hat will give you all the protection you need on a boat day.
- Stay hydrated: You might be surrounded by water, but relaxing on the beach can be hot work, and if you don’t stay hydrated it could leave you feeling lethargic and nursing a nasty headache.
- Empty your pockets: You never know when you might end up in the water (we all have friends like those) so take care to empty your pockets before you hit the water – cellphones and even some car keys do not take kindly to being submerged in saltwater.
