It’s all you’ll keep talking about. You’ll start laughing when you think about it. It’s what’s on your mind.

Bruce Springsteen was singing about Glory Days.

And this year on every second Friday and last Friday of each month, The Wharf Restaurant in George Town will host Glory Days.

Along with delicious food and immaculate sunsets, The Wharf will offer patrons a soundtrack filled with disco, classic rock and -- you guessed it -- songs from the eighties, including The Boss’ hit from his Born in the USA album.

“We try to create a brand. We’re trying to get back to the old school,” said restaurant manager Reno Mancini.

The Wharf will feature music from artists like Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Def Leppard, and songs like Disco Inferno and the Saturday Night Fever playlist, among many others.
“We’re not doing time tables,” Reno says. “We’re just going with the flow.”

The DJ will also be accepting requests throughout the night, so you can be certain that your glory days’ anthem will be on the list.

Expanding their horizons
In 2011, The Wharf will depart from its Disco theme and broaden their range of music and atmosphere to appeal to a wider audience, although the disco ball and lights will stay.

“It’s a brand new start to the new year,” says Reno. “So we wanted to wipe the slate clean for events that cater to all ages and party-goers.”

Glory Days is sponsored by Spin 94.4, a radio station that plays music for everyone, and What’s Hot magazine, a magazine for everyone.

“The islands demographics have changed,” says Reno. “So I’ve tried to open it up and cater to everyone.”
Miller Lite and Baccardi are the distributors for Glory Days, so the party drinks promise to flow for everyone.

And if you’re feeling really excited about your twice-a-month Friday out at The Wharf, you can even dress up.

“We try to get people more involved and come dressed up for the occasion,” says Reno.

So roll up your sleeves and stuff your red hat in your pocket -- it’s time to party on Glory Days.
