While many bars come and go, Lone Star Bar and Grill has become an institution on West Bay road, and no wonder, as the restaurant recently celebrated its 25th anniversary in December last year.

With a Texas smokehouse inspired menu, the restaurant brings something unique to the table, with beef, chicken and pork all getting the smoky treatment. Whether you decide to sit inside, surrounded by cowboy hats and saddles, at the bar where number plates and unique signs adorn the wall while sports run on the flat screen TVs, or outside, watching the world go by on West Bay Road, there is a perfect space for whatever mood you are in.

Of course, things have not remained static in the last 25 years. The decor has changed, and the menu has also been updated to bring even better food to the table. Of course, when it comes to the choice of beer available, things have certainly changed over the last 25 years, with local beer now playing quite a big role.
Even though Texas dominates the decor and menu, Cayman has a strong presence when it comes to the beer, with Caybrew, Caylight, and Ironshore bock playing an important role.

“Our staff love to be able recommend local product. In the past 25 years of Lone Star history this is the most exciting time for us. Our new Texas BBQ Smokehouse menu and flat screen TV’s covering all the sports is especially well suited to beer consumption,” says Sloane More, manager at Lone Star.

This is why the staff at Lone Star recently took part in the Caybrew Gold Member programme, which included a tour of the brewery as well as tips on pouring the perfect pint of Caybrew, along with a bit of taste testing of course.

Caybrew is not only found on the drinks menu though – it plays a vital part in the food preparation as well.

“Our chicken is marinated in Caybrew and then smoked. Our ribs are basted in Ironshore Bock, so we are certainly dedicated to the product,” says Sloane.
