Unless you want an uphill battle recovering after the festive season, a bit of early season exertion could make all the difference. While you’re at it, why not do it for a great cause as well?

The annual Jingle Bell 5k/10k Run/Walk on 11 December will help raise funds and awareness for the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre, while at the same time promising to be brilliant fun for all participants.

The event will start form Tiki Beach and take runners and walkers through Yacht Club Drive and back to Tiki Beach for a well-deserved breakfast.

As someone who certainly needs to get in shape before Christmas, Santa will be leading the warm up stretch before the start, which is scheduled for 7am. The event will be followed by a prize drawing at the breakfast, with Vicki Wheaton taking on the duty of master of ceremonies.

There will be prizes for the top three finishers in each category, as well as a selection of random prizes for the finishers.

Miss Teen Cayman, Leanne Ritch, will also be in attendance to say a few words about domestic violence, as her platform for the year is to bring greater awareness to the community about domestic violence.

Pre-registration for the Jingle Bell Run/walk will be held on 4 December at Fosters, Kirks, Cost U Less and Hurleys Supermarkets.

The Cayman Islands Crisis Centre is a charitable organization that provides emergency shelter and support services for women who are victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic abuse or sexual assault, you may call the Crisis Centre’s hotline number 943-2422 or the toll free number 1800 534-2422.

The event is sponsored by the Insurance Managers Association of Cayman, LIME, Greenlight RE, Maples Finance, Cayman Free Press, FirstCaribbean Bank, KPMG, Maples and Calder, Water Authority, Dr. Van Putten, Butterfield Bank, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, PKF Chartered Accountants & Business Advisors, Krys and Associates Cayman Ltd, Conyers Dill & Pearman, Aon Insurance Managers Ltd., The Security Centre, Hews Janitorial Maintenance Services, SRS (Cayman) Ltd., Deloitte, and DART Cayman.
