You might think you know what to expect from a Happy Hour, but walking into what Full of Beans has put together is a truly unique experience. Well known as a coffee shop and healthy eatery, it did not stray far from its roots when coming up with a Happy Hour concept.

All of the mixes on the menu are coffee inspired, with some unique combinations sure to deliver just the right mix of pick-me-up and chill out.

“We’re not a beer and wings kind of Happy Hour spot – we’re more like the neighbourhood kind of place,” says Jeff Wilson for Full of Beans.

From 3pm to 6pm, there is a special menu featuring some traditional happy hour fare like chicken quesadilla and Full of Beans’ famous flatbread pizza. The menu also has some rather special touches, like a crispy tuna roll, fruit and cheese platter and traditional bruschetta. In keeping with the healthy eating theme, there are also numerous vegetarian options including the spicy black bean burger.

Of course, no Happy Hour would be complete without the drinks, but in this case it is not beer buckets.

“We’ve got champagne or prosecco, espresso martini, Kahlua and coffee, Bailey’s and coffee and various coffee concoctions like that,” says Jeff.

Full of Beans has also created a Cayman coffee, of which Jeff refuses to divulge the ingredients, instead urging the curious to come to Happiness Hour and try it for themselves.

“We actually call it Happiness Hours, rather than a Happy Hour, because it is so different,” says Jeff.

The aim with Happiness Hour is to extend the appeal of the eatery while at the same time not alienating the loyal clientele that have made the coffee shop such a popular hangout for families. In fact, this might well be the only truly kid-friendly happy hour on Island. The restaurant has also introduced a kids menu, to make it even more family friendly.

“Even if your Happy Hour is an Illy cappuccino and a croissant, I’m happy with that,” laughs Jeff.

Full of Beans also has a pastry chef who can work magic with dough, including delicious vegan muffins.

One of the other aspects Jeff likes to focus on is that Full of Beans caters for guys as well, with what he believes to be the best Reuben sandwich on the Island.

Full of Beans also displays the work of local artists on its walls, with the art changing monthly, giving the eatery a subtly different feel every couple of weeks.

For anyone who feels like skipping the same old Happy Hour and getting away from the crowds and the loud music, Full of Beans in Passadora Place might be just the spot.   WH
