For everything Cayman has to offer, there is one thing it does not have – mountains. Yet just a short hop away, the Blue Mountains of Jamaica beckon those with a yearning for higher ground.

There is no more perfect way to experience these majestic mountains that a visit to the Strawberry Hill resort. Situated at 3,100 feet, overlooking Kingston way below, the resort is the epitome of a luxury mountain escape.

Kingston is a mere hour away on Cayman Airways, and Strawberry Hill a further 30 minutes by car. Yet for all the proximity the experience could not be more different.

“Jamaica’s history, culture and music is celebrated around the world, and my Island Outpost group of hotels have been designed and are operated to embrace the island’s unique attributes,” says Chris Blackwell, chairman and founder of Island Outpost group, of which Strawberry Hill forms part.

The resort is based around a grand house and 12 Georgian style cottages, each located in a private landscaped location on the former coffee plantation. Add to that the living spa and the internationally acclaimed restaurant and it becomes clear that this is a unique vacation venue.

“Strawberry Hill, which is located in the Blue Mountains, can offer a holiday experience that contrasts greatly with the normal beach hotels throughout the Caribbean. Complimented by the area’s natural rain forests and rivers, Strawberry Hill provides a total change of temperature. Its cool and fresh – the perfect mix for a quick escape to renew the spirit and body,” he says.

Until 15 December, Cayman Airways and Strawberry Hill are offering a special getaway package two-night “Blue Mountain” package, which includes airfare, and: a one-hour Elemental Nature Massage; a Blue Mountain Body Elixir; full use of the spa facilities; and a guided tour of the Craighton Coffee Plantation. Package rates begin at US$1,000 for single occupancy or US$1,550 double occupancy, including tax and service.

This is the second year in a row that Cayman Airways and Strawberry Hill team up for this special. However, it is not limited to Strawberry Hill, with special airfare and special rates for Cayman residents also available for other Island Outpost resorts in Jamaica, whether Geejam, Jake’s, The Caves or Goldeneye, when it opens in November.

Bookings can be made through the Island Outpost reservation lines at 876-946-1958 or 876-946-1935 or through local travel agents.
