With year round sunshine and warm weather, Cayman is perfect for those who relish an outdoor lifestyle. However with that lifestyle comes sun exposure and inevitable skin damage. In order to look your best, a little bit of pampering every now and then can go a long way.

Beyond Basics, Cayman’s first medical day spa, recently consolidated all its services under one roof at its expanded Smith Road Plaza location. Apart from the long list of medical day spa services already offered by the spa, the expanded location has allowed an expanded menu of services as well.

According to Dawn DeBlieck, the spa manager, Beyond Basics now offers “just about anything you want to do to your body, to your face, to your hands or to your feet.”

“When you get to that point when you look in the mirror and think ‘Oh my gosh, there’s my mother’ its time to come to us,” laughs Dawn.

Among the new treatments offered is a selection of new body treatments to help prevent cellulite, stimulate and invigorate cell regeneration and provide nourishment to the skin.

An expanded line of massage therapies also includes hot stone massage therapy and deep tissue massage. Couples massage is also available for those looking for something a little bit romantic.

Manicures and pedicures have also been added to the menu of services, with only nail polish free of DPB, formaldehyde and Toluene being used. This makes the polish safe for use by anyone, including women who are pregnant.

“A lot of people don’t know that when you’re pregnant you’re not supposed to be getting nail polish put on. Your body absorbs things,” says Dawn.

Beyond Basics has also introduced a Marvel of Life Maternity programme, which provides a variety of treatments and services, from beauty treatments to Lamaze classes and doula services.

The spa also makes a point of offering as many services as possible that require no down time, which means the treatments can be administered over a lunch time break.
The spa also uses jane iredale mineral makeup, which because it is a skin treatment as well as a makeup, can be applied directly after a treatment without irritating the skin the way regular makeups could.

Beyond Basics also offers a range of laser treatments, from fractional lasers for skin rejuvenation to a TriVantage laser which allows the removal of tattoos of all colours with minimal discomfort.

Through medical micro pigmentation, the spa is also able to offer scar camouflage, which is very effective on stretch marks as well. Semi-permanent makeup is also available.

Of course, all the treatments that have made Beyond Basics a success are still part of the menu, with the facials a firm favourite.

Part of the service is a complementary skin analysis to ensure that the ideal treatments can be prescribed for each client. Lifestyle is also taken into consideration, with different products being prescribed depending on how much time you spend outside or other environmental factors that could impact on your skin.

The grand re-opening for Beyond Basics will take place on 26 August at Smith Road Plaza.   WH
