More places to stay
Many folks commute up and down the Seven Mile Beach corridor daily, but that is quite often as close as they get to the beach, at least during the week. However, a quick staycation break at one of the resorts on the Seven Mile Strip can fix any beach withdrawal symptoms quickly.
The convenience of being mere steps from the beach certainly helps, as does the fact that someone else can deal with the sand that seems to get everywhere after a day at the beach.
One of the popular venues for a quick getaway on Seven Mile Beach is Treasure Island.
The resort features 40 hotel rooms, all of them suites with a kitchenette, allowing you to take care of preparing your own meals should you be so inclined. However for most, the idea of cooking while on a staycation break is definitely not high on the list of priorities. However, sitting and doing nothing usually is a priority, which make the fact that each room has a balcony a much more important point.
However, whenever you take a beach break, time spent in the room comes a distant second to time spent outside.
Fortunately, the resort features three pools for cooling off after a spot of sunbathing. There is even a swim-up bar for those who cannot bear the idea of getting out of the water on a warm summer’s day and would prefer to be every bit as chilled as their drink. The biggest of the three pools also features waterfalls and there is even a kids pool at the pool closest to the beach.
The section of beach in front of Treasure Island is perfect for sunbathing, while those with energy to burn on their staycation can walk all the way down Seven Mile Beach.
The ocean in front of the resort is also perfect for snorkelling for those not wishing to venture further afield. An impressive variety of marine life frequent the area and the convenience of having a snorkelling spot right outside the front door means you can go back often to look for any new visitors.
On site dive operation Divers Down offers free pool-based diving lessons on Wednesdays and Sundays for those looking to get their feet wet for the first time.
For those who are still not sold on the idea of a staycation, Christine Ostrowski, leasing manager at Treasure Island, says the concept is definitely a winner.
“You get to live like a tourist. Even if you live just down the street, it is nice to just get away from your house, get away from your apartment and just stay on a resort, even if just for a night, just to relax and get away from it all,” she says.
As for onsite facilities, Treasure Island as a wide selection.
“We’ve got a full service spa and we have two restaurants, Billy Bones Bar and Grill and we also have Chang’s, which just opened,” says Christine.
A lobby bar, fitness room, laundry room and even small convenience store round out the onsite offerings.
The location is also perfect for anyone looking to experience the night life up and down the Seven Mile strip, with many of the top night spots within easy walking distance.
“We are right in the middle of everything,” says Christine. “Plus we have the best sunsets - I love watching sunsets off the beach.” WH
