Cayman is becoming a popular port of call for cruises of a musical nature. In September, the Sailing Southern Ground cruise will take to the water, leaving Tampa on 2 September aboard the Carnival Inspiration. The cruise will be headlined by the Zac Brown Band, which was recently honoured with the 2010 Grammy Award for Best New Artist.

The band, generally known as ZBB, plays a style of country rock that has won it many fans in a short span of time. ZBB will be supported by a wide range of other bands as well, including Michael Franti and Spearhead, Blackberry Smoke, Shawn Mullins, Cadillac Sky, Nic Cowan, Dirty Guv’nahs, Gaelic Storm, Sonia Leigh, Levi Lowrey, Oakhurst, Darrell Scott, The Wood Brothers, and Jason Isbell among others.

The cruise follows in the wake of a number of other musical events cruises that have visited Cayman recently and will once again allow fans on the cruise to get closer to their favourite artists in a relaxed and social environment where music is the common denominator.

An event like this also creates an environment ideally suited to collaborative efforts between the different artists, creating a truly unique experience for all involved.

Leaving Tampa on 2 September, the cruise will spend 3 September at sea before docking in Cayman on Saturday, 4 September. After spending the day here, the cruise will head back to Tampa where it will dock on Monday 6 September.

The cruise promises to have all the excitement of a music festival without the inevitable worries about parking, rain, mud and all the other inconveniences that tend to form a part of most music festivals. Instead it will include all the amenities of a cruise, except that the entertainment will be better than usual.   WH
