Your phone’s ringtone can say a lot about you. For many people, it says  “I don’t know how to change the tone from the default setting.”

However, a ringtone can be an expression of who you are, something many people have taken advantage of.

Digicel is taking this one step further with Ring Back In-Tunes, a fun new interactive service that provides a unique twist to selecting your own ringtone.

The service offers customers the choice of personalising the ringer tones that callers hear when they dial Digicel numbers. From the latest hip-hop, gospel, reggae or jazz, Digicel customers are now able to change the sound of their mobile ring from the traditional beep that incoming callers hear. The service should be music to the ears of anyone calling a Digicel number.

The service is easy to use, and can be accessed in one of three ways. From any Digicel mobile phone, simply sign-up and download your favourite song by texting the word SUB to the number 333. An SMS text response with instructions will be sent to your phone. Alternatively, you can dial 333 to listen and sign-up for the service. The third option is to visit the Digicel RBT website, which contains a full list of songs you can view and listen to by going to digicelcayman.com/en/help_faqs/ring-back-tones.

The service merges technology with entertainment using an interactive voice response platform that allows you to access the service using voice or keypad inputs. Ring Back Caller In-Tunes makes it easy to change the ring sound of your phone with any song from your favourite artist or genre, making calling you a lot more entertaining. With a selection of over 700 songs, there should be something to suit even the most eclectic of music tastes.

The service was launched with the Rise Again anthem recorded by Shaggy and other artists, voicing hope for the people of Haiti after the earthquake on 12 January 2010. Since then, many customers have been adding their favourite music to their phones. Digicel customer, Paul Robinson who has been using RBT said

“I have been getting compliments from my contacts who call and hear my ring-back tone. It is quite pleasing to be able to offer some form of entertainment whilst they wait for me to answer.”

Just be prepared for friends to be somewhat irked when you pick up to quickly and interrupt their listening pleasure.

At $1.50 for a 30 day subscription to the service and $1 per song for 90 days, you can update their ring back style anytime.   WH
