Dive Tips

Usually when people say that they are living the dream, it is a statement laced with sarcasm. Yet in the case of Gary Frost he genuinely means every word of it. A British lad who fell in love with diving the minute he stuck his head under the water off the coast of Spain, he has never wanted to do anything else but be part of the scuba industry. Now, after years of working for others, he and his fiancée Liz Oliver have finally accomplished their goal and have created their own company, fittingly named Living the Dream Divers.

After that first experience in Spain, Gary returned to the UK with nothing but visions of marine life dancing about in his head.
At the age of 23 he officially became a dive instructor, and so he left his life of running bars in England to go and work in Gibraltar as an instructor.

Two years later he moved to Egypt, but didn’t spend long in the land of the pyramids before travelling a significant distance to Bermuda and its pink sand beaches. After two years in Bermuda, Gary moved to Cayman Brac and Divi Tiara where he enjoyed barefoot elegance for a few years and met his future fiancée Liz. In 2005 he took a break and went to the Bahamas for a year, but was back in 2006, this time to Grand Cayman, where he joined Giles at Wall to Wall Divers.

In all this time he had always had the plan to start his own business. He and Liz took the best experiences they had enjoyed at dive shops over the years, and used them to create a dive company they could be proud of. In January 2010 Living the Dream Divers opened sporting a luxurious, spacious boat that incorporates all the little extras so important to the perfect dive vacation, such as a small barbecue on board, bean bag chairs, floaties, water toys and a great sound system. The rental equipment is excellent mid-range stuff, and customers really appreciate that, especially for multi-dive days when lower quality items can chaff. Ahem. They take 10 divers maximum so people can spread out on the vessel and any customer with a non-diving spouse or friend knows that their travel companion can relax in comfort whilst they frolic beneath the waves. Pickups are available along the Seven Mile Beach corridor and training is available up to assistant instructor level. If you’ve ever considered learning how to dive but been nervous, Living the Dream is the place for you. Gary’s enthusiasm is absolutely infectious and he loves teaching others. Check out
