Nancy’s top dive sites

Nancy Easterbrook and her company Divetech have been fixtures in the local dive community for many years. What began as a small business in 1995 has branched out into multiple locations whilst still keeping the personalised service for which it has always been revered. With the latest addition of Lighthouse Point, Nancy and her husband Jay have become pioneers in offering the first solar and wind powered dive shop and condominium development for ecologically-minded scuba divers.

Born in Winnipeg, Canada, Nancy has travelled the globe, diving in Canada, various US locations, Australia, Seychelles, Maldives and extensively throughout the Caribbean. As an Instructor Trainer with various scuba agencies, she has invested her passion into diving, after having successfully run numerous other businesses.

Nancy’s background in diving and Jay’s years of experience in all aspects of construction have made them the perfect couple to bring Lighthouse Point to Cayman. The condominiums are positioned in the natural landscape of North West Point, surrounded by indigenous plant life. The design is based on classic and timeless Caribbean architecture and all units provide unfettered views of the Caribbean from private balconies. The solid stone exterior complements the local topography and the addition of antique anchors, cannons and nautical features, complete with lighthouse, create a sense of true island living.

Lighthouse Point is registered as a member of the US Green Building Council. Its green amenities include solar power, wind power, on-demand hot water heating, a comprehensive water reclamation and re-use programme, solid wood interiors from sustainable forests and many more features, including a daytime café.

The on-site Divetech can cater to every aspect of owners’ and visitors’ requirements.

There is an extremely healthy reef out from shore and the abundance of marine life is amazing and varied. The site features a mini-wall from 30 to 60 feet just minutes from shore, and the deep wall is only 10 minutes offshore. As specified on their website: “Multiple wave notches, chutes, overhangs and pinnacles make for very interesting diving. An old anchor, estimated to be between 150 to 200 years old can be found in the shallows in 15 feet of water.” Shore diving officially opened recently, with all the outdoor amenities that you have come to expect from Divetech. A 40-foot dock is available for customers’ and owners’ use, allowing them easy access to sites further afield.

Nancy is constantly in motion – sharing her time between Lighthouse Point and Cobalt Coast Dive Resort, the location of Divetech’s other shop. She tries to make Divetech’s offerings as diverse as possible so that everyone from beginners to Trimix and Rebreather aficionados can have the best dive vacation.   WH
