2010 Hurricane Supplement
Security provides Peace of Mind
June 02,2011
What does a security service have to do with hurricanes?

Plenty.

While this year’s hurricane supplement goes to great lengths to inform readers of all the traditional hurricane shutters on the market, at least one offering is left off – Crimsafe.

Crimsafe can protect your home against hurricane damage, while still letting light in and allowing you to view the outdoors. Miami Dade and Florida Building Code approved, it is tested to withstand winds up to 200mph and missile impact up to 150mph. Unlike typical hurricane shutters, Crimsafe is installed in place.

There is no need to spend tense moments just before a storm climbing up on ladders and hammering boards into place. You will be protected 365 days a year with a one-time install.

Crimsafe is also energy efficient.

Adding Crimsafe screens on windows and doors can greatly reduce the amount of heat entering your home, therefore reducing the need to run the air-conditioning and thus reducing energy costs. Crimsafe can improve the windows ability to block solar radiation by up to 52 per cent.

The screens are available from The Security Centre, which has also teamed up with Cayman First Insurance to offer free basic alarm systems with each renewal or new home insurance policy.

“Through partnership with The Security Centre, we are pleased to offer our clients this extra protection,” says Michael Gayle, general manager of Cayman First. “Our clients are important to us and so is their safety.”

For individuals to be eligible for a free basic alarm system, they must either sign up or renew their Cayman First Home Insurance Policy through Cayman First or their insurance broker. This facility will also be extended to residents in any strata complex that is insured by Cayman First. The customer will be given a gift certificate for $499 to be redeemed at The Security Centre Limited toward an alarm system.

“We’re happy to be working with Cayman First on this promotion and commend them for taking the initiative when it comes to protecting their clients,” says Frank Brennan, vice president of operations at The Security Centre Limited.

Eligible clients can contact The Security Centre and arrange for a safety inspection of their home once they have a new Cayman First Home Insurance policy, renew an existing policy or are resident in a strata complex insured by Cayman First.

Once the client proceeds with the alarm system, there is a two year minimum period for maintenance and monitoring through The Security Centre. Having an alarm system monitored provides extra peace of mind. If your alarm goes off, The Security Centre Monitoring Station is notified and they call you to make sure everything is OK and will call the police in an emergency.

“We recommend that all of our clients monitor their security system and Cayman First clients are no different. It’s like having someone else watching over and protecting your home,” says Brennan.
