Free diabetes
seminars planned

A free seminar to help children, teenagers and adults manage their diabetes will be held this weekend.

The guest speaker will be diabetes nurse consultant Andrea Hunt, who is a certified diabetes educator from Tamarac, Florida.

On Saturday, 3 November, Ms Hunt will address management of Type 1 diabetes among children and teens and her seminar on Sunday, 4 November, will focus on adults managing Type 2 diabetes.

Ms Hunt, in her seminars, aims to provide basic diabetes education, describe management strategies to help optimise glycemic control, discuss factors which may affect control, such as stress and sickness, and review acute and chronic complications and the American Diabetes Assocaition’s self-care guidelines.

Both seminars will be held at the Hibiscus Room at the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town.

Registration for Saturday’s seminar will be between 8 and 9am and the seminar will continue until 3.30pm, and will include a snack and lunch.

On Sunday, registration will be at noon to 1pm and the seminar will end around 5.30pm, and will include lunch.
