New officers and board members have been named for the Kiwanis Club of Grand Cayman.

A brunch was held on Sunday, 30 September, at Blue Cilantro to install the 2012-2013 group. The event, hosted by outgoing President Monique Bush, brought together Kiwanians and representatives from other local service organisations. As a fundraiser at the event, a raffle was held with prizes kindly donated by Lime and Cayman Airways.

As she passed on her responsibilities to the incoming president Kadi Merren, Ms Bush reflected on the year saying, “It has been a long and eventful year with much to be thankful for. I’m grateful to the Kiwanians, their family and friends for the time and support given over the past year. I would also like to thank the corporate community for the generous donations and sponsorships, which made many of our endeavours possible. I offer my congratulations to Kadi and am looking forward to the year ahead and assisting her where necessary.”

Ms Merren said, “I feel honoured to take on the responsibility of president this year. I’m so blessed to have such amazingly dedicated and humble officers and members to share this experience with. I believe that by working together we can achieve things we never thought possible and continue to help improve the lives of children in Cayman over the coming year.”

President Elect Roger Bodden and Distinguished Past President Paul DeFreitas are perfect examples of the Kiwanis mission to serve the children of the Cayman Islands. Both were honoured at the induction for their 25 years of service to the club through the founding and continued support of Key Clubs in the Cayman Islands.

Ms Merren and Vice-President Lauren Ebanks are both former members of the Key Clubs of Triple C High School and John Gray High school, with Kadi serving as lieutenant governor for the Cayman Islands division from 2003-2004. Secretary Linda Chapman-Key and Treasurer Ruud Van Der Pluijm are long serving members of the Kiwanis Club of Grand Cayman.

New Kiwanis members Joy Merren and Kimberly Arch were also inducted.

The Kiwanis Club of Grand Cayman is a diverse group of like-minded people committed to improving the lives of Cayman’s children one child at a time.
