Books for the bees

In preparation for its annual signature project, the Lions Spelling Bee, the Lions Club of Grand Cayman recently handed over spelling bee books to members of the Cayman Islands Department of Education Services.

The books are being distributed to schools throughout the Cayman Islands to assist participating students in preparation for the event.

Receiving the books were Deloris Thompson, head of testing and exams; Angela McLaughlin, senior customer service officer; and James Watler, senior customer service manager with the department.

This year’s spelling bee is scheduled to take place in November. Divisions 1 and 2 Preliminaries will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, 7 and 8 November respectively, with the finals taking place on Friday, 30 November.

All are scheduled to take place at the Mary Miller Hall in Red Bay.
