Frasers edged out of finals berth

People gathered around the television to watch the Fraser brothers compete. Ben Maxwell
Cayman’s swimming brothers fell short of an Olympic final on Tuesday.

Shaune and Brett Fraser were eliminated in the semi-finals of the 100 metres freestyle. Brett had the fastest time of the two, placing seventh out of eight competitors in their heat at 48.92 seconds. Shaune was eighth at 49.07s.

They would finish behind James Magnussen of Australia, who was first in 47.63s, Cesar Cielo of Brazil, second in 48.17s and Nikita Lobintsev of Russia, whose time of 48.38s was good enough for third.

Brett was in lane three after placing third in his heat in 48.53s. Shaune was in lane eight after finishing fifth in his heat in 48.99s.

Brett adn Shaune both should be very proud of their accomplishment to reach the semi finals. They have done themselves and Cayman very proud! 2 Caymianians in the same semi final - that is great stuff!
