Through partnerships
The Chamber’s Pro-fessional Development & Training Centre has partnered with member business Shirlaws to offer three new CEO Workshops. These workshops are offered to all Chamber members at a discounted rate.
The sessions are geared toward business owners, CEOs, and executives on the leadership track who would like to enhance their corporate vision and meet the demands of the ever-changing business climate.
The three CEO Workshops are:
- Managing in Context
- Manage the Energy
- Coach Don’t Play
The session on Managing in Context was scheduled recently and focussed on the use of a capability matrix and frameworks to develop strategic capabilities.
The Manage the Energy and Coach Don’t Play workshops will be scheduled for quarter one and quarter two of 2012.
The Chamber has maintained its relationship with member business, Key Consulting, which is a Registered Education Provider for the Project Management Institute.
Once again, the Chamber has placed a series of Project Management Certification courses on its 2011 agenda:
- Certified Associate in Project Management Preparation Course: 31 October to 4 November 2011
- Project Management Fundamentals: 7 to 9 November 2011
- Using MS Project to Plan and Control your Projects (Levels 1 and 2): 10 to 11 Nov ember 2011
- Project Management Professional Certification Preparation: 5 to 9 December 2011.
With over 250,000 project management professionals, the Project Management Institute’s certification programme is now a standard worldwide. In an economy with restricted budgets, it is in the best interest of companies to ensure its human capital is equipped with these essential skills.
Through membership surveys
The PD&TC seeks to offer courses that teach skills which are highly relevant and immediately applicable on the job. In this light, the Chamber undertook a Training Needs Evaluation during the
summer in order to better gauge the collective training needs of member businesses.
From this online survey, the Chamber was able to ascertain the importance of a number of instructional topics as well as derive feedback on training preferences. The results will form part of a comprehensive review that will be instrumental in the courses and related scheduling for 2012.
Through discount offerings
The Chamber recognises the difficult economic climate and as a result, the need for companies to balance their training needs with overall budget.
In response to this, a new initiative was launched in August 2011 in order to offer a discount on a select list of courses. With the featured course of the month, members benefit from 10 per cent off the regular members fee.
Another way businesses can invest in training while saving is to buy a training card. With the training card, members may pay in advance for four course registrations and receive confirmation of the fifth registration free of charge.
Simply put, pay for four and get an additional course for free.
General information on training courses:
One-day courses cost $150 for Chamber members and $225 for future members.
Two-day courses cost $225 for Chamber members and $300 for future members.
Separate rates apply to the certification courses and the CEO workshops offered through Key Consulting and Shirlaws.
