Main Story: 

Tristan Hydes is the son of well known Caymanian, Captain Shelby Hydes. Raised up and still living in the district of West Bay, Tristan has been employed for the past two years as (acting) Deputy Chief Officer with the Ministry of District Administration, Works, Lands & Agriculture. Tristan first worked with local architecture firm CGMJ, before pursuing his passion for architecture by studying in San Diego, California, then later transferring to and graduating from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a Bachelor of Architecture.

Returning to Cayman, Hydes was employed with the Public Works Department as Architect and Project Manager for over 10 years, with such accomplishments as the West Bay Library, a number of Post Offices and the design of the National Archive Building.

As project manager, Tristan coordinated the master-plan development of the ORIA and Little Cayman Airports and also played an integral part of the Government’s rebuilding efforts after Hurricanes Ivan and Paloma. Hydes also coordinated development of the affordable housing project for the Ministry of DAPA&H and worked with the current Ministry’s project team on the new Government Administration Building.
