A European focus
October 5, 2011 While on paper they may appear to contribute a relatively small
percentage to overall visitor arrivals, the UK and European markets are
nevertheless a vitally important component of the Cayman Islands tourism
sector for a number of reasons.
If there is one thing we have learned about the tourism
industry since 9/11, it is that there are no longer any hard and fast
guidelines as to what will work and what won’t. The rule book as we knew it in
the eighties and nineties has effectively been thrown out the window.
In just three short years, Grand Cayman has won over the culinary world. Elevating an already burgeoning dining scene to new heights, Cayman Cookout has earned the destination some serious culinary credibility.
Oh Canada
October 6, 2010 It’s no secret that the US market is vital to Cayman’s essential tourism
industry, but Canada, its quiet neighbour to the north, is poised to
make some noise this fall. A new strategic alliance with one of the
world’s fastest growing airlines...
Once regarded as a niche market, sports tourism has captured the world
stage to become one of the fastest growing sectors in the travel
industry. Industry experts are billing 2010 as “the year of sports
tourism”. Four major sporting events – the Winter Olympics, FIFA World
Cup, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games – all take place during the
year...
Following the world’s worst economic meltdown in history, the tourism
industry is anticipating a resurgence in 2010. As the industry begins to
rebuild, the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism is refining its
business strategy for increasing tourism to the region by tracking major
trends influencing the world of travel.
One day this past summer I received a call from the Cayman Islands
Ministry of Tourism. I’ll admit, I was surprised, since it had been
seven years since I’d done any consulting work for the Cayman Islands.
But I was very interested in the message of the call:
As Chairman of the Board of Cayman Airways, Jude Scott is making his first foray into the aviation industry.
The Cayman Islands Film Commission is responsible for facilitating film, television, video and other media projects in the Cayman Islands, providing a one-stop service to both local and offshore producers, financiers, studios and production teams.
