Three masked men pulled off a daring bank heist in broad daylight Wednesday.

Butterfield security officials told the Caymanian Compass that three men carrying guns walked into the Compass Centre branch just before 11:30am. One of the robbers fired a shot into the ceiling and ordered everyone down onto the ground.

The men then demanded cash, and fled with an unspecified amount of money.

No one was injured in the incident but several customers and employees were visibly shaken by the ordeal including a pregnant teller who received medical attention at the scene.

Wow, finally people are getting it.

Just because someone as a shirt on, with a patch that says "security" does not mean, they are security guards. They are armed with flashlights and insults. Might as well call them janitors without brooms. Infact, a broom would be a better weapon than thier flashlights!

"security guards" can't guard anything without weapons.

But it seems that the police can't even have weapons. Here is an idea. Just for the heck of it.

Why not disband the "armed police unit" and just pair off with a police squad car, unarmed officer. So you have one unarmed driver, and an armed police passenger. Response times would be much quicker. And you have the perfect pairing. If it's domestic. The driver handles it. With the armed officer as backup.

If it's an armed conflict. The armed officer deals with it, and has the driver as backup.

Maybe that is too much rocket science thinking right there, so forget about it.

So yes, hire people who will watch your money get stolen. Makes sense to me. *Rolls eyes.

It is sad to see such a wonderful and peaceful little island reach such a state. I am not sure how many security guards are on duty each day around George Town and thru out the island, but I would venture to say that in all, the sum paid to watch the doors and be perhaps the first to see a thief or a robber assault a business amount to many thousands of dollars. These individuals posted as security guards have not one, but both hands tied bihind them when a heist such as the two recent bank robberies occur. It maybe agaist the english laws for policemen as well as security personel to carry guns, but without some type of ammunition to protect themselves and the properties which they are hired to guard am afraid they will continue to be just number added to the victims of these reckless incidents. I trust that those responsable for trying to deprive our country of our cherished heritage will take a step back in time and take stock of where we were and where we are, and much more troubling where we are headed. God bless our little islands.
