Surrealists Ball
Nov. 21: The National Gallery hosts its annual fundraising gala “The Surrealists Ball.” Cocktail reception starts at 6:15 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the National Gallery. Call 945-8111 for more details.

Tree Lighting
Nov. 22: Camana Bay transforms into a sparkling wonderland with a majestic Christmas tree, musical performances from the Cayman National Choir and Orchestra, Cayman International School Elementary Choir and the Cayman Islands Folk Singers, plus a Christmas craft market and a visit from Santa Claus. From 6 p.m.

Wine tasting
Nov. 22: Governor Helen Kilpatrick hosts the annual “Shades of Red” fundraiser at 7 p.m. at Blue Cilantro. The semiformal wine tasting includes live entertainment and a silent auction. Benefits the Cayman AIDS Foundation and other community service initiatives. Tickets are $75.

Boat trip
Nov. 23: Animal welfare organization One Dog at a Time partners with Moby Dick Tours to offer a fundraising adventure at the Stingray Sandbar and Starfish Point. Cost is $25 and includes light snacks. The boat departs at 11 a.m. from the Cayman Islands Yacht Club, Dock C. Music Extravaganza
Nov. 29: Rotary Central Grand Cayman’s annual event, this year at Royal Palms, 7 p.m. to midnight, featuring Loaded Peace, Little Magic and Gone Country. Money raised goes to Rotary’s community service projects. Tickets are $25, which include entry into the raffle to win $40,000 cash. Ticket sellers will be at various locations, including supermarkets island-wide.  
Gimistory
Nov. 29-Dec. 6: Enjoy tall tales and a traditional fish fry in a host of picturesque spots across Cayman during the annual storytelling festival. Admission is free to each event. Location details to be announced shortly.
Santa Paws
Nov. 29:  Santa Paws spreads Christmas cheer to all pets in Cayman. Pets and their owners are invited to take holiday photos with Santa, with Picture This, 10 a.m. to noon at Gardenia Court, Camana Bay. The Cayman Islands Humane Society and Must Love Dogs will have gifts for sale. Proceeds from all photo and gift purchases go toward supporting the shelter.
Christmas bazaar
Nov. 29: The Pink Ladies Volunteer Corps’s annual Christmas Bazaar and Tea at Camana Bay’s Arts and Recreation Centre, from 2-5 p.m. Enjoy musical entertainment, handmade crafts, raffle, silent auction, children’s crafts and activities and the ever-popular tea. Admission is $5; all money raised supports local community initiatives.
Singing Christmas tree
Nov. 29-30: Local singers, actors and dancers are featured, along with overseas performers, from 6:30 p.m. at First Assembly of God, Old Crewe Road. Free admission.
Farm-to-table dinner
Dec. 3: Cayman Cabana and Plantation Organics hosts a family-style dinner, with freshly caught Caribbean lobster, conch and fish, and locally grown fruits and vegetables. Cost is $49.95 per person, with an optional wine pairing priced at $15. For reservations email caymancabana@gmail.com.
Art exhibition
dec. 4-Jan. 22: The National Gallery exhibits a selection of artwork by local artist David Bridgeman. The exhibition is the culmination of many years’ work based on the combined landscapes of the artist’s native England and his longtime home, the Cayman Islands. Book fair
Dec. 5-6: Presented by CayWriters and offering two days of book sales, writing workshops, children’s activities, guest speakers and author readings at the George Town Public Library, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. For full event details, email caywriters@yahoo.com.
Parade of LIghts
Dec. 6: Cayman 27’s annual Parade of Lights at Camana Bay, Festival Greeen, from 6-8 p.m. Brightly lit boats, festively decorated, parade through the harbor against a soundtrack of classic Christmas songs. The grounds open at 5 p.m. with a craft market, food and drink and musical entertainment. Fireworks will cap off the event at 8 p.m.
Arts and Craft Bazaar
Dec. 8: Browse locally made arts, crafts, jewelry, baked goods and more at St. Ignatius Loyola Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds go to the Girl Guides.
Festive Flavor tour
Dec. 17:  Camana Bay’s progressive dinner celebrates the season with a four-course tasting tour featuring traditional holiday fare and fresh local ingredients, from 6-7 p.m. Cost is $69 per person, all-inclusive. Tickets must be purchased in advance from West Indies Wine Company. Call 640-9492.
