Steel pan experts ready to get Cayman feet dancing

From young to old, steel pans are fun. – Photo: Joe Shooman

Get ready, Cayman, for the quintessential sound of the Caribbean during the holiday season.

Two events caught our eyes and our ears, both at Camana Bay and both featuring those energetic, tuneful, resonant and occasionally mellow steel pans.

Friday, 28 December

4 to 6pm

Don your dancing shoes and get ready to move. Join Pantastic, Cayman Prep’s steel pan band, on The Crescent for a festive free concert in support of the talented youth group. Get up and jam or sit back and relax, and soak up an afternoon of rhythm, beats and live music at Camana Bay.

Saturday, 29 December

3 to 5pm

Bringing the rhythms of the Caribbean to Camana Bay, local musician Earl La Pierre will bring the Town Centre to life leading up to New Year. Enjoy a drink or an ice cream, sit back and relax as you listen to the chilled out sounds of steel pan in the cool shade of The Paseo.
