Restaurant Week well-received

A week in which restaurants offered special deals on prix-fixe menus has been heralded a success.

Organisers the Cayman Islands Tourism Association said that the $15 lunch, $25 dinner and $35 dinner options, were “a great way to explore the variety of culinary offerings at local restaurants for a cost-effective price”.

“Restaurant Week proved to be a great success for [our] member restaurants,” said Jane van der Bol, executive director of the association. “The Cayman Islands is home to so many quality establishments that strive for excellence in daily operations. Restaurant Week is a way to help them increase business during a slower month of the year, while showing off the quality, variety and hospitality available in Cayman. These qualities are what make Cayman the Culinary Capital of the Caribbean.”

She said that the event would be held again in 2013 and would run for longer than 2012, which ran during the first week in October.

Partners for the week included Flava and dms Broadcasting.

We spend every summer in France.
BY LAW every restaurant must offer a set menu at lunch and dinner.

Typically they choose an item or two off their appetiser, main course and desert and offer this 3 course meal at a price roughly equal to the appetiser plus main course together.

So you get a 10 Euro appetiser, a 30 Euro main course and a 10 Euro desert for 40 Euros.

This is year round, not just off season. Does it work? Well French restaurants are renowned for their excellence world-wide.
