The revived masters football league kicked off last week and many creaky limbs felt a lot creakier after playing for 70 minutes. But matches were on the whole played in good spirits and thankfully nobody asked for a zimmer frame afterwards.
Matches continue on Wednesday night at the TE McField Annex.
At the TE McField Annex, Romeo Thomas, who was playing for Scholars International in the Premier League last season and barely made the minimum age requirement having turned 40 in February, scored the first and only masters goal of the game against George Town.
George town started the game with only nine men but they gave Scholars plenty of problems despite their disadvantage until Thomas scored in the last few minutes.
In the second match Young Men, with Bernie Bush in goal for the first half,
beat Bodden Town 3-1.
Young Men scorers were Kenzel Dixon, Ritchie and Marcos Tinocos. Emmanuel Brown got the
Bodden Town goal.
On Sunday at the Ed Bush stadium in West Bay Young Men played George Town and Boca Juniors faced Scholars International. The first game was drawn 2-2 with Young Men’s goals coming from Marcos Tinocos and Alfredo Whittaker. Carlos Welcome and Floyd Webb hit the target for George Town.
Scholars International thrashed Boca Juniors thanks to a double by Brian Hydes and goals from Joel McLean, Fred Ebanks and David Powery.
