Crews begin boat ramp project
09 February, 2012

Construction equipment was seen earlier this week along the water in Bodden Town, as a long-promised boat ramp project appears to be getting under way.

The ramp project is slated to cost $180,000 for the first phase, which includes a concrete boat ramp, parking and sidewalk facilities at Coe Wood Public Beach in Grand Cayman.

Area fishermen have voiced concerns about the potential impact from the project.

“We are in agreement that safety is top priority and proper signage and marking as with any other project of this nature will be required. Upon completion of Phase 1, i.e. construction of parking lot and boat ramp, we would be looking to have such pertinent issues addressed in the upcoming phase,” said Niasha Ross, Bodden Town Boat Ramp project manager.
