Lifted event for Abacus
31 January, 2012

Abacus Restaurant will host an exclusive cocktail party and auction, featuring an appearance by visiting R&B superstar John Legend on Thursday, 2 February.

The event is titled Lifted and will take place in the Paseo at Camana Bay. Mr. Legend will join guests in celebrating with live music and a special auction, with part of the proceeds benefitting the NCVO and its youth-focused programming.

Tickets for the event are $150 and include a selection of red wine, white wine, sparkling wine and hors-doeurves. The event begins at 7pm and guests are encouraged to arrive ticket in hand, as space, autographs and photos will be handled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“We encourage people to get their tickets as soon as possible. Abacus is selling tickets during their opening hours and tickets are available for reservation,” said Andrew Brooks of Monster Media.

Beat it

Connoisseurs of classic films and music will have the chance to bid on an unparalleled collection of items, including the original jacket from the Michael Jackson video Beat It signed by Mr. Jackson himself.

“We are beyond excited to debut this unique capsule collection of items in the Cayman Islands. This event is a once in a lifetime chance to go home with a piece of music or film history,” Mr. Brooks said.

In addition to the King of Pop’s jacket, the event will also feature signed guitars, albums and photographs from artists such as Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, Loretta Lynn, Garth Brooks, The Supremes, Bill Withers and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam.

Movie memorabilia fans will be thrilled with original signed photographs from Jaws signed by Steven Spielberg, The Godfather signed by Al Pacino, Raging Bull signed by Robert De Niro, as well as a hand drawn sketch of Nightmare Before Christmas by director Tim Burton and a signed poster by Muhammed Ali and Joe Frazier.

The event is being produced in partnership with Monster Media, Camana Bay, The Crescendo Group, Nathan Square Communications, IRG, The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, Hopscotch Studios and Lions Productions.

In addition to autograph and photo opportunities with John Legend, the evening will feature live music by the band Bona Fide, with DJ Doug Jonesian.
