Seven to receive Heroes Day honours

Cayman Islands Governor Duncan Taylor will honour seven teachers for their years of service during a public Heroes Day reception in downtown George Town.

On Monday, 23 January, Governor Taylor will award the group of educators each with Cayman Islands Certificate and Badge of Honour recognition for their years of service within the local education system.

The outdoors award presentation is scheduled to begin at 9am in Heroes Square in central George Town and will be part of the public holiday festivities. The theme for Heroes Day this year is education.

Those being honoured include Sally Ann Balderamos, Tammy Mona-Lisa Banks-DaCosta, Gerald I. Harper, Edgar Allan Jones, Bernice Elizabeth Levy, Lorna Pamela Lumsden and Anita F. Wheaton.

“They have ceaselessly given of their time, skill and knowledge which have touched many young lives in the community,” Mr. Taylor said. “I am delighted that their contribution to the education of our youth has been acknowledged by this honour.”
