Beginning Wednesday, Camana Bay’s Weekly Farmers Market has a new home at the corner of Market Street and Forum Lane, just a stone’s throw away from its former location. The growing market features about 15 local vendors.
The new location is in a covered area across the street from Digicel and Mail Boxes Etc., and offers ample space for the increasing number of vendors, said Bianca Freeland, public relations coordinator.
Parking for market visitors is available in a nearby surface lot.
The market is open every Wednesday from noon to 7pm.
“Local vendors from across the island fill their booths with fresh fruits and vegetables, all natural baked goods and juices, homemade seasonings and jams, hand-made thatch crafts and jewellery, delicious food including fried fish and fritters, and much more,” she said.
People looking for local food on other days of the week or more eastern parts of Grand Cayman can also visit the Market at the Grounds on Saturday mornings at the Agriculture Showground, or the GreenMarket at Plantation House on Sundays from 2 to 6pm.
The first evening farmers market at Camana Bay took place in April 2009, while the Market at the Grounds debuted in August 2007.
