Local referees Nolan ‘Falcon’ Foster and Kenville Holder were in Turks and Caicos from Monday to Thursday this week where they were officiating in the Caribbean Football Union Men’s Under-20 playoffs.

Both refs are members of the Cayman Islands Referees Association, an affiliate of the Cayman Islands Football Association. They were appointed to officiate by the CFU.

Foster, who holds a degree in Physical Education and Sports, joined the referees association just for the fun of it. He became more involved and has since adopted refereeing as his second career. He was appointed to the position of a FIFA referee in January.

Holder is a police officer with the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service and earned his FIFA status in 2007. He was an assistant referee at the FIFA level before he was promoted to officiate in the middle.

A delighted Jeffrey Webb, president of CIFA, said: “I am extremely proud of these referees who have placed tremendous efforts into the physical and mental aspects of refereeing in order to reach this level. On behalf of the CIFA I wish them all the best at the international level and hope that they will be an example to be emulated by those who will follow this career in the future.”

Presently there are four referees on the FIFA list from the Cayman Islands besides Foster and Holder - Dwayne Ebanks and Swason Owen who are assistant refs.
