The first Cayman’s Got Talent show for new and established local talent is due to throw its pre-launch party in Cayman Brac on Friday, 3 September.

The bash will be held poolside at the Brac Reef Hotel from 6pm until late. The event’s organisers are bringing over Grand Cayman band Bona Fide to get the party started right, and musical entertainment on the evening will also be provided by Brac band Sea Level.

A barbecue is also planned, and the organisers are asking people to make it over to the Brac for a fun weekend in support of the event and to support the Sister Islands.

The main event of the Cayman’s Got Talent weekend on the Brac will take place from 6pm at the Aston Rutty Centre and will be the first of the six district preliminary heats, promoter Nolly Brown confirmed.

All the registered contestants from the Brac and Little Cayman will perform on the night and will be judged by a panel. “We will choose five contestants from the evening to represent the Sister Islands in the pre-final in Grand Cayman on 9 October,” Mr. Brown added.

“There’s a wealth of talent on the Sister Islands and we’re hoping to attract a great crowd and some special participants who want to showcase their gifts and represent,” he added.

The pre-launch party billed as ‘a taste of the fun to come,’ will also feature a raffle with prizes, including the grand prize of a round-trip ticket for one from the Brac to the Cayman’s Got Talent grand finale at the Lions Centre, with one night’s accommodation, Mr. Brown said.

Cayman’s Got Talent, which will consist of a series of district heats and a pre-final before the grand finale on 16 October, is being organised as a fundraiser by Nolly Brown Entertainment in association with the Cayman Islands Diabetes Association.

The proceeds from the shows will go towards providing local diabetics in need with necessary medical supplies, such as glucose meters, insulin pumps and testing strips.

Mr. Brown said that there’s been a “humongous amount of interest in Cayman’s Got Talent by people of all ages and all nationalities living in the islands who want their shot at fame and a chance to win the grand prize of $4,500 cash.

“We’ve been able to secure sponsorship from TCYB, PictureThis, Kscan Cayman, Cost-U-Less, the Alexander Hotel, Aunt Sha’s Kitchen, Island Photos, the Brac Reef Hotel and Backie’s Restaurant. It’s amazing what can be achieved when the community rallies behind an event,” he added.

Anyone interested in becoming a contestant in this year’s Cayman’s Got Talent should visit www.nollybrown.com to find out the eligibility criteria and download an entry form, or call 746-8301.
Private individuals or companies wishing to sponsor the fundraising shows are asked to visit the website for further details and to download a sponsor application, or call 746-8301.
