Police have made arrests in connection with two burglaries on Cayman Brac.

Two suspects were nabbed in relation to a burglary at the Watering Hole Post Office in which a filing cabinet containing cash, stamps and phone top-up cards was taken.

A 35-year-old man was arrested for that burglary and has been released on bail. Police also arrested a 40-year-old man for the same burglary and also seized ganja, drugs utensils, a flare gun and ammunition.

He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, drugs and firearms offences. He remained in police custody Monday morning.

Police have also arrested two more suspects for a burglary in which a washing machine and drier was stolen from an unoccupied premises last month. A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and blackmail, and a 30-yearold woman was arrested for handling stolen goods. Both have been released on police bail.

This brings to four the number of people arrested in relation to this crime.

Last week, police arrested a 33-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman on suspicion of the burglary and recovered the washing machine and drier. The pair were released on police bail.

Chief Inspector Malcolm Kay said: “While we are glad to have recovered these items and detected these crimes in a timely manner, it is very unfortunate that they occurred in the first place.

“Cayman Brac enjoys a sanctity and security which is envied by many and I would like to warn anyone who is contemplating any form of criminal activity in the Brac that it will not be accepted or tolerated and we will do everything that we can to find you, arrest you and put you before the court.”

He added; “We will not let one or two opportunist or mischievous individuals ruin what every other law abiding Bracker, resident or visitor to the Island alike love about Cayman Brac.”
