The Ritz-Carlton Suite at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman has been nominated for this year’s World Travel Awards.

It is up against suites worldwide including those in France, India, Egypt, South Africa and USA. Last year’s winner was the suite at The Monarch, Dubai, which is again nominated.

The nominations were revealed at ITB Berlin, which is the world’s largest tourism trade fair.

There are 5,000 organisations represented who have either been nominated by their peers or self-nominated. Voting takes place online in a number of local, national and international categories online.

Stingray City is in the running for Caribbean’s Leading Tourist Excursion and the suite at Ritz-Carlton is also nominated in the category for Caribbean’s best suite.

It is the seventeenth year of the awards, which are intended to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence in the global travel and tourism industry. The awards ceremony for 2009 took place at Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 7 November.
