Chevening Scholarships 2010 deadline
12 March 2010
|

The UK’S Foreign and Commonwealth Office is inviting Caymanians interested in postgraduate study in Britain to apply for a Chevening Scholarship Award by Friday, 19 March.

The scheme offers funding to outstanding graduates for study at any of the British universities that subscribe to the Chevening programme.  Scholarships are usually for one-year masters’ programmes, but courses of a minimum three months’ duration may also be considered.

According to a release from the Governor’s Office, the programme is aimed at future leaders and decision-makers. Successful applicants must therefore possess outstanding potential. A limited number of scholarships are offered annually and there is strong competition for each.

Over the past 14 years, 25 Caymanians have received Chevening scholarships for postgraduate study in Britain. Previous scholars have returned to the Cayman Islands to work in a number of Government departments and elsewhere.

The Chevening programme is administered locally by the Governor’s Office and the Education Council.

Further information on the Chevening scholarship programme can be found at Chevening.com. Applications for the scheme must be submitted online and the relevant forms and guidance can be found at chevening.fco.gov.uk/CheveningApplications/CA-Start.aspx. Further information is similarly available on the Governor’s Office website, ukincayman.fco.gov.uk.

Completed applications must be submitted by the Friday, 19 March deadline. Contact Melenie Mylrea at the Governor’s Office (+1 345 244 2431 or Melenie.Mylrea@fco.gov.uk) if you have any questions.
