Easter auction set
10 March 2010

The Little Cayman District Committee of the National Trust for the Cayman Islands is preparing for its annual Easter auction.

The event, which is set to take place on Saturday, 3 April, is now in its 18th year and is the biggest fundraiser for the committee.

“With the help of our steadfast supporters, the Little Cayman District Committee has done an amazing job of conserving and preserving the special world that is Little Cayman,” said Debbi Truchan, head of the district committee.

The district committee successfully established the Booby Pond as a protected nesting reserve for frigate birds and red-footed boobies. The district committee is also close to establishing the first reserve in the world to protect the endangered Sister Islands Rock Iguana, which is found only on Little Cayman and Cayman Brac.

The auction continues to grow each year, enticing more and more people to attend and bringing attention to the donations and donors who have supported the Trust’s efforts. The organisers have requested members of the community to come forward with donations of merchandise, services, or other items worthwhile for auction.

The event will feature a live auction and a silent auction, making all donations significant.
