Water Authority helps kids
9 March 2010

Children attending George Town Primary School will have better access to healthy lunches thanks to a donation from the Water Authority Board.

The donation of $2,600 will go toward the Lean on Me Committee’s work in supporting local persons in need.

The committee, founded by a group of dedicated young professionals in 2006, determined that some of the children of George Town Primary School are in desperate need of funding for school uniforms and lunches.  The donation from Water Authority-Cayman will go toward providing healthy lunches for these young growing minds.

“The Water Authority is honoured to support this very important programme, which will provide our youth with the tools and fuel they need to learn and grow into aspiring young men and women of our community,” said  Water Authority Director Gelia Frederick-van Genderen.

Derri Lee, chairperson, of the Lean on Me Committee said the principal of George Town Primary was touched by the generosity of the donations.

“In these difficult economic times it is very much appreciated,” she said.
