National Trust needs funds to purchase more land
9 March 2010

The United Nations has declared 2010 the International Year of Biodiversity. With this in mind, the National Trust for the Cayman Islands is working hard to bolster the Land Reserve Fund through intensive fundraising.

The fund is used to protect land which is under threat of being destroyed or negatively impacted by development.

The UN invites the world to take action in 2010 to safeguard the variety of life on earth: biodiversity.

In recognition of the UN’s declaration, the National Trust is seeking to raise funds which will aid in the purchase of biodiverse land throughout the Cayman Islands.

“We would like to see more land in the Cayman Islands preserved,” said Janet Walker, council member of the Trust.

“2010 being declared the International Year of Biodiversity makes this an opportune time to raise both money and awareness about the diminishing biodiversity in our Islands”.

Individuals and companies are asked to help this cause as the Trust continues to preserve the Cayman Islands for present and future generations. Those who donate CI$2,500 or more will be invited to attend an appreciation dinner scheduled for late March.
