Club Inferno given approval to reopen

Club Inferno at Hell will reopen as a nightclub and daytime bar following the granting of retail liquor and music and dancing licenses in principle.

The approval came during the Liquor Licensing Board of Grand Cayman’s quarterly session last Thursday in Customs Headquarters at Owen Roberts Drive.

Club Inferno licensee applicant Duane W. Ebanks spoke of plans to re-open the facility.

“Right now we have over 50 per cent fitted so far,” he said. “We’ve been through the plans and have drawings laid out.”

Security

The new Club Inferno will utilise half of the current location and will feature security cameras outside and inside the building. There will be wheelchair access added as part of the refurbishment.

Mr. Ebanks explained that during the day, the bar would also serve the many tourists and cruise ship passengers that visit Hell daily, as well as locals who would support the bar.  During the evenings, he said there are plans to have live music.

“On Friday and Saturday nights we plan to have concerts with local bands,” said Mr. Ebanks, adding that the establishment has been closed since Hurricane Ivan in September 2004.

He said that there were plans to introduce a dress code, plus security guards on duty at the venue, particularly on the live music nights of Friday and Saturday.

Licenses are approved in principle by the Liquor Licensing Board of Grand Cayman subject to all conditions being subsequently met to the satisfaction of other bodies including Department of the Environment, the police force and the fire service.
