A meeting of high-powered tourism ministers is to take place next week in Johannesburg. The tourism minister - T20 – will discuss the theme, ‘Travel and tourism: stimuli for the global economy’. The conference takes place between 22 and 24 February.

It will also be attended by the United Nations World Tourism Association and representatives of United Nations Environment Program, United Nations Social and Economic Commission for Asia, International Labour Organisation and the World Travel and Tourism Council.

The T20’s last meeting took place in October 2009 in Kazakhstan and recommended that tourism could be made more mainstream in its global decision-making. They said that a focus was needed on building resilience, stimulating growth and development, and supporting the green economy.
