Those following the career of Cayman supermodel Selita Ebanks will be interested to know the George Town born A-lister has signed up for season three of Celebrity Apprentice.

The 27-year-old Victoria Secrets model told the Caymanian Weekender: “I am very excited and proud to be representing Cayman… I hope all Cayman will be watching”.

And her motivation for doing the series airing 14 March on NBC: “I did the show to bring awareness to the unsettling statistics of child mortality in Sierra Leone [West] Africa. The charity I was competing for was Shine on Sierra Leone.”

New York based Selita, who tries to get over to Grand Cayman when her frenetic schedule permits, said: “I have recently built a new building at a pre-existing school that will house over 200 students… I am continuing to work with the organisation to help rebuild the hospitals of Sierra Leone and help sustain health care for women and children.

“[According to the 2006 United Nations World Population Prospects report], Sierra Leone has the highest child mortality rate. One in four children die before the age of five, and one in 10 women die at child birth due to a lack of medical supplies and doctors.

“I hope that doing the show will bring these statistics to light and we can gain more support,” she added.

Selita’s co-contestants, on Donald Trump’s wildly popular spin off reality show, include former governor of Illinois Rod Blagojevich; Sharon Osbourne, TV talent pundit and wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne; Darryl Strawberry, baseball player; comedian Sinbad; singer/actress Cyndi Lauper; Poison front man Brett Michaels; actress Holly Robinson Peet and Olympian Michael Johnson.

Asked what other commercial projects she is currently involved or wrapping up, Selita said:  “I just shot the cover of Ocean Drive, March issue and Maxim magazine, March issue.”
